Intent to Injure

Saturday, December 31st, 2005

Hockey is a game of strength, force and intimidation, but when parents and coaches defend blatantly illegal checks from behind and intent to injure fouls, they are making a mockery of the game. They also may be legally liable, especially at the Minor Hockey level where children are involved. While the game allows legal contact, violent contact with a bona fide attempt to injure is usually classed as a criminal offense.

House Select or A Better House Program?

Tuesday, December 20th, 2005

An additional $50-$100 fee increase will not price out any more kids than the current high fees already do. My son plays House and he is one of the few players still using a $10 wooden stick these days. If parents can spend $100 on a stick for a 10 year-old then they will definitely see the value of $100 fee increase to help their children become better hockey players.

Checking (in non-checking classifications)
