Amenities: The RecZone has ample parking (including parking across the street, Professional Size Ice Rink, game room, snack bar, excellent seating, skate sharpening and pro shop, a bar/restaurant area that opens when the Carolina Hurricanes are practicing.
Locker Rooms: The 4 player locker rooms are large enough to hold about 15 adult skaters. The 1 Referee locker room is adequate.
Seating:There is enough seating for about 500-1000 people on concrete bleachers - bring a cushion. There is also plenty of room to stand around the rink.
Ice: The ice is well-maintained. A second sheet is under development.
Cleanliness:The facility is clean by hockey standards. There are no bathrooms in the locker rooms, but the main facilities are very well-maintained.
Pro Shop: The Pro Shop is about what you would expect for a facility of this size and has a reasonable selection of equipment for emergencies.
Overall: The RecZone is an excellent facility. The Reczone has excellent seating in the lobby to hang out before and after the game. The snack bar has the basics and the games are spread out around the outside seating area. The seating is first rate for a hockey rink. The second rink will make this an even better place to hold a tournament. There is an outdoor rink for roller and box lacrosse.
Directions: From the Beltline (aka 440) take exit 10 (Wake Forest Road)going South you will see a Biscuitville on your left about 7/10 of a mile. Turn left at this light (Hodges Street). The RecZone is on your right. Parking is either on your left or past the building on the right.
