HockeyCat Rink Information

Amenities: The Triangle Sportsplex has ample parking, Professional Size Ice Rink, high-ceilings, game room, pool, banquet area, conference area, fitness facilities and a snack bar. It is the future home of the Orange County Senior Center.

Locker Rooms: The 4 player locker rooms include showers, bathrooms and are large enough to hold about 20 adult skaters. The 1 Referee locker room has a shower and its own bathroom.

Seating:There is enough seating for about 500-1000 people on concrete bleachers - bring a cushion. There is also plenty of room to stand at the front entrance and the floor is above the ice so the view is excellent.

Ice: Back to being the best in the Triangle thanks to some upgrades, a great paint job and some needed improvements.

Cleanliness: The facility is generally kept clean by hockey standards. The bathrooms in the locker room are sometimes dark, but the facility is much cleaner than in the past.

Pro Shop: The Pro Shop reflects the split nature of the Sportsplex by offering skates, equipment, sticks and figure skating wear, in addition to competition level swim suits. Skate Sharpening is done by Sportsplex staff, who are generally available for tournaments. The pro shop can order anything you need, but don't expect to find a composite stick in an emergency.

Overall: The Triangle Sportsplex is one of the finest facilities in the Triangle area of North Carolina. During warmer months, there is an outside play area with resident ducks and geese. The pool operates year round. The game room is adequate and kept nicely away from everything else. The Triangle Sportsplex also houses a sitting area with a wide screen TV tuned to the latest hockey, basketball or football game should you get bored with the action on the ice.

Directions: Coming from I-85 take exit 165, and go north on NC 86 which ends at a stop sign. Turn Right (business 70). Triangle Sportsplex will be about one half mile on right.
