Amenities: SkateNation Plus is an excellent ice facility that aspires to be much more. It has Laser Tag, an arcade with skee ball - HockeyCat.com loves ski ball and a full service snack bar. The facility was being partially renovated when I visited, but even then it was in good shape. The Pro Shop was not open while I was there and you get the feeling that this is an arcade that happens to have an ice rink. The Richmond RiverDogs practice there, Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Rams Club team plays there and the Metro Richmond Youth League plays there. There is a second floor observation area and good seating.
Locker Rooms: SkateNation Plus in Richmond has good locker rooms with showers. Access is easy. The referees' locker room is separated from the players.
Seating: Seating is excellent.
Ice: The ice at SkateNation Plus is very good.
Cleanliness: The bathrooms were clean and the snack bar area was also clean.
Pro Shop: The Pro Shop was almost an afterthought, but seemed to have most things. Skate sharpening is available.
Overall: SkateNation Plus is an excellent entertainment facility that happens to have an ice rink. There were nets limiting access to the emergency exit during the public skate. I cannot imagine a better facility to bring the family to. Also, a little Laser Tag team building can be done onsite. If there were a full service restaurant, you would never have to leave. As an ice rink it is a solid facility.
